A round up from our Citywide Partners - October 2024
Hello! With lots going on this term, we wanted to give you a brief round up of what's been happening at Ebe to support our Citywide Partners and ways you might like to get involved in the next few weeks.
What have we been up to?
Harvest assemblies: Throughout September and October, Stewart and Mary have been visiting our local primary schools to give assemblies on a harvest theme, which also explain how things work North Bristol and South Glos Foodbank to support those in difficult circumstances. Several of the schools have also been collecting food donations too.
Footprints harvest collection: In October, members of our Footprints group also generously gathered items to be donated to NBSG Foodbank too. Check out the photos.
Spring of Hope visit and collection: In October, Nicola from InHope came to share about the women's night shelter project at our Sunday service. We gathered donations of pjs and toiletries to take down to the centre for the women in their care.
Community meal with refugees: As part of our Something Different Sunday, a group of Ebe people attended the monthly community meal hosted by Easton Christian Family Centre, as a way of getting to know refugees connected with Refugee Welcome Homes.
Financial gift: In discussion with the Ebe Finance Team and Key Leaders, we have committed a financial gift of £1000 to each of our Citywide Partners this term from Ebe funds.
What's coming up?
Our Citywide Partner team regularly touch base with each organisation to find out how we can be praying and supporting them.
North Bristol and South Glos Foodbank
Reverse advent calendar: A reverse advent calendar flips the traditional concept – instead of receiving a daily treat, you give one. Starting in November, add one item each day to a box or bag, following the suggested list of most-needed items. https://nbsg.foodbank.org.uk/2024/10/25/reverse-advent-calendar-2024
Volunteering opportunities - contact volunteering@nbsg.foodbank.org.uk for more details
Tesco Christmas Collections: Thurs 28th, Fri 29th & Sat 30th Nov: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1036717839967
Christmas Stock Sorting Sessions (in the warehouse): Fri 29th Nov & Mon 2nd December, 9.30am-1.30pm: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/food-bank-christmas-sessions-2024-tickets-1037129400957
Special request: Due to the large amount of donations that we are hoping(!) to receive in the run up to Christmas, we are looking for a couple of volunteers to be at Ebe, between 11am - 1pm on the following dates: Fri 6th, Mon 9th, Fri 13th, Mon 16th & Fri 20th December. It would probably be a good session to bring a good book in case it is quiet. It would be your job to answer the door and put the donations into crates ready for sorting. Please email rachel@ebe.org.uk to sign up or with any questions.
