Do what Jesus did
On Sunday at the Gathering we watched a talk by a guy called Robby Dawkins. It’s definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a link: http://trinitycheltenham.com/Podcasts/third-person-2013-session-1/
He tells some very cool and ‘crazy’ stories about how he has prayed for people and what he has seen happen as a result.
Do you think that these kind of stories, that this way of praying for people, and what happens as a consequence, is relevant for here, for now, and for you? We are supposed to be little versions of Jesus, and Jesus’ himself tells us to ‘Go!’ – maybe should crack on with the stuff that seems crazy (and quite frankly terrifying) and see what happens?!
Here are some things that people have said…
“God wants us to surrender our fear of people, our desire for popularity, and our longing for respect and recognition. He wants us to stand up and be counted, to face the music, to nail our colours to the mast.” (Simon Guillebaud)
“Even though the 12 were given the authority and power of the Kingdom, they still had to exercise it. Until they actually healed the sick and cast out demons their power and authority meant little to them. To understand what you have you actually have to use it. And if you want more you have to give away what you’ve already been given.” (John Wimber)
“Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighbourhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously.” (Jesus)
Have a think on it all and let’s keep talking about this.
And probably more importantly that talking, let’s give it a go…
SUNDAY 16TH MARCH – meet at Ebe 1pm, go out and pray with people.
