On Sunday, at The Gathering, we started to think about we live out and share our faith. We know that, as Christians, part of the deal is that we become more like Jesus, that we live like Him and do the same things that He did when He was living here on earth.
We know that this is what Jesus tells us to do as part of ‘The Great Commission’...
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
At The Gathering, this year, this is what we’re going to do. We’re going to “... look again at a message that makes us alive as human beings and how we can spread it in a way that’s natural, instinctive and fulfilling.” We’re going to think about what this looks like for us individually, and together as a community. We’ll get specific and practical, and try not to hide in amongst the ‘theory’. We’ll encourage and spur each other on, celebrating the ‘small’ (and big!) stuff. We’ll pray with and for each other, and expect that as we step up and out, some Jesus inspired awesomeness will happen.

Have a read of this quote again...
“Our mission and witness come from valuing people as God values them and a conviction that life with Jesus is a better life. It has to be motivated by love more than duty. As a missional community considerable space needs to be created to think about, plan and pray for our witness. Praying for our friends, prioritising time with them and being accountable in our witness is all part of that. Our witness requires us to live see-through lives in a way that is authentic and at the same time provokes curiosity.”
